Sept 13th: Dog Chapel

Sept 13th, Friday:  Drove through what was to be a scenic drive:  Kancamagus Highway through the White Moutains in New Hampshire.  Unfortunately, the weather was crummy with rain, lots of it, and fog,  and then very overcast.  Trees are starting to turn and can imagine in a couple of weeks how beautiful it will be here.

Then a visit to the Dog Chapel in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, which was very touching.

Looking for more American Legions was an futile effort today.  GPS tried to take us down a lonely road, and then in the middle of nowhere announced that we were at our destination!  We think she was out too late last night.

Food for the night was NOT oysters or lobster.....it was hamburgers.  Oh how we miss the lobsters.

Blue is blue leaving the KOA in Freeport NH!

Blue sniffing a tree in White Mountains, New Hampshire.  Of course, he marked this tree as his!  His first hike here.  River in background is the Swift River and it really runs swiftly!

Lower Falls in White Mountains

Trees are turning.  Rain is falling.  Wipers are going.

It says "moose crossing."....as we rush through rain.

And now the rain as, drum roll please, we enter our last state on the New England State - Vermont.  Don't you just want to wipe away those rain drops?

Not real on the left.  Gretchen & Blue on the right are for real.

Dog Chapel in St. Johnsbury, Vermont with many, many sad pictures and posts.  With church music playing.  Gretchen, of course, is weepy.  Blue thinks these are real dogs and wants to play!

In memory to our neighborhood dog, Abby as we signed the guest register in the Chapel.  Love and miss her.

And there were several signs with "moose crossing" but after many miles, we saw none.  Reminded us of Alaska!  They even tell you how many miles/feet and to be certain you "brake" for the moose.  If only we could see one......and how do they know that the moose cross here?
