Sept 8-9, Sat/Mon: First of all Happy Birthday to my favorite brother - Al. He is 39 today. Just kidding. He is actually 70. Just kidding on that, too! He is double of nickels. Have a fun day, bro.
On Sunday, we drove to a KOA in Bar Harbor and took the free shuttle to town for some delicous lobster at Fish House Grill but not before taking in another lighthouse. This one transmit red signals. Oh joy!
Then Monday, we rented a car and drove to Acadia National Park. We weren't certain what to expect at this park. Turned out to be pretty nice. Had a lot of hiking trails that we don't do anymore. Visited Cadillac Moutain, which is 1,528 feet and the highest peak touching the Atlantic Ocean between Canada and Brazil. Isn't that a wonderful fact? Here's another: Cadillac Mountain is the 1st place on U.S. soil touched by the rays of sunrise!
Transmit red signals
Blue's first lighthouse and he can't control his excitement. See him?
Pretty view from the lighthouse.
Lobster traps waiting to get some more scrumptous lobsters.
Mensat bay. Isn't this just like a Maine postcard?
Another Maine postcard.
Entering Acadia National Park. We were hoping we would see more than trees....and we did. See on.
View from Cadillac Mountain.
More view from Cadillac mountain.
And still more view from Cadillac mountain
and One more view from Cadillac mountain.
Hear this: our FIRST picnic and Blue's too. Look how he can hardly wait to get his lunch from Roger.
Actually, all we had was a prime rib sandwich for Roger and peanut butter & jelly for Gretchen. Topped off with Wisconsin cheese and pepperoni.
Sand Beach in Acadia National Park. Atlantic is 50 degrees so you won't see Gretchen swimming here!
These two pictures show one/and two of many lobster markers in the ocean. The colors are registered per fisherman with the state of Maine. One is hung from the ship and others are in the ocean. When law enforcement comes alongs, he watches to be certain you are catching your own colors! If not, watch out!
